Welcome To Architectural Services Suffolk
In 2009 we were awarded the 'South Norfolk Council Design Award for Self Build in Broome' - achieving a 'High Commendation' for new build. As part of the service I would liaise with planning, conservation and listed building departments during the project.
This timber frame home includes glulam structural beams and posts to support the floors and roof. The building is a highly insulated home featuring high performance timber windows and doors. Cedar boarding is used to finish the rear facing west elevation.
Cottage refurbishment with contemporary extensions in coursed flint-work. This extensive refurbishment was carried out in 2017-18 to turn a run-down cottage into a wonderful new family home. New composite aluminium / wood windows and insulation were upgraded to meet the new Building Regulations which has made it economic to heat. It uses underfloor heating connected to an air-source heating system concealed in the garden.

This updated home in Norfolk is situated in a conservation area. The cottage was extensively refurbished and extended with a glazed bay window to give space and to enhance views into the garden. Traditional materials and craftsmanship were required to preserve the look and character of the building.
A small contemporary extension provides a new entrance with a first floor third bedroom to a 1970 style semi-detached house; the extension replaces the original a single storey lobby and hall.
Designed with low maintenance in mind using coloured rendered walls and cedar boarding which provides a long term durable and attractive feature.
